The Cardinals enter play today with a 15-18 record after splitting the series’ first two games with the Chicago White Sox . They open the day five and a half games back from the Milwaukee Brewers, who lead the National League Central. The Cardinals will host the New York Mets next for a three-game series at home starting Monday. After the series with the Mets, they head to Milwaukee for a four-game series against the division-leading Brewers. Before the start of today’s game, they announced two roster moves.

OF – Dylan Carlson

The Cardinals have activated Carlson from the 10-day injured list ahead of this afternoon’s game. Carlson has yet to play in the big leagues this season after being out on the injured list way back at the end of March with an AC joint injury. He played four games for the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds on a rehab assignment. He scored two runs, three hits, one home run, one RBI, three walks, and struck out twice. He slashed .273/.467/.545 with a 1.012 OPS during his rehab assignment.

C – Pedro Pages

The Cardinals have optioned Pages back to the Memphis Redbird in Triple-A. He played in five games for the Cardinals with only two at-bats, one RBI, and no hits. He slashed .000/.250/.000 with a .250 OPS with the Cardinals. He has played in six games with the Memphis Redbirds this year with three runs scored, four hits, two doubles, one home run, two RBIs, five walks, and five strikeouts. He has slashed .222/.417/.500 with a .917 OPS while in Triple-A.

Wrap Up:

The Cardinals could use Carlson in the outfield as they’ve already sent down Jordan Walker, and Tommy Edman hasn’t yet returned to action for the Cardinals. The Cardinals are trying to get things going as they attempt to win the series against the White Sox today in the rubber game of the series. They need the win to gain momentum heading into next week with a full week of games. The Cardinals having a winning week next week will help kick off the month of May and hopefully allow them to climb in the standings while they wait for a few more folks to get back healthy.
